L'AIA, COVERD HEADQUARTERS - VERDERIO (LC)

The Aia is a mid 19th century building that has been turned from a natural drying store for crops to the headquarters of a company dealing in natural technology and materials for the “green” building industry.

It is an excellent example of an environmentally friendly building adapted for modern use.

The new wing and the older, restored section have a low thermal dissipation and were built by using natural products and materials with low environmental impact and utilising modern technologies by Coverd.

This concept is known as “Passive building”. The work was carried out under the strict supervision of the Soprintendenza del Ministero per i Beni Ambientali e Architettonici (National Heritage).

The frames in thermal-break galvanised steel, used in the new wing, carry the classic glass partitions both internally and externally that are typical of the 19th century architecture.
