Old Market Palace - Verona

PALAZZO DEL MERCATO VECCHIO - VERONA

This majestic four-sided complex with a central square can be dated back to the beginning of 1100, right in the midst of Roman age.

Its restoration began in 2005 and was completed after only two years. It required an uncommon dedication by the designers to give back dignity to a complex that had undergone various rearrangements, destructions and transformations of its use throughout the centuries: as a fortress, communal palace, prison, market, public haystack, health office, district court, police office, academy of arts, etc.

Heavy interventions were needed: consolidation, fittings, external and internal cleaning, etc.

Windows and doors were closed with frames made of cor-ten embellished with a wooden internal glazing bead.
