SHOPPING CENTRE - ANTWERP

It was originally built in 1908, as an important building for the rich and flourishing municipality, in an eclectic style on a design by the architect A. Van Mechelen.

This complex joins two of the liveliest and busiest roads in the city, one of which (called Meir) once faced a canal, which is now buried.

In 2000 it was severely damaged by a fire that destroyed mainly the hall, and it was decided to direct the restoration of the complex as a shopping mall with more than 40 boutiques.

It has now become both a destination for high-level shopping and for tourists thanks to the opulent but elegant façade and interiors.

This appearance has been achieved with the new look of the glass windows, shop windows and of the swinging doors made with thermal-break burnished brass, and embellished with big tubular handles filled with brass and in an elegant sinusoidal shape.
