| FORMER CONVENT OF SANTA MONICA - SAVIGLIANO (CN) Built originally as Monastero Santa Monica in 1642, it became a workhouse in 1800, then a Caserma di Cavalleria in 1814, and finally a Ospedale Militare until 1973. Today this big complex has become the faculty of Scienze della Formazione as requested by the local authorities and Università di Torino. The designer had a hard task in framing the big arches with frames that could bear the consistent weight of the glass. Moreover, he had to warrant the ease of cleaning and to conceal as much as possible the metal frames made of galvanised steel painted in grey. In this way the designers guaranteed the maximum transparency of the windows whilst respecting the current building regulations.
